The 36-year-old joined Perth from fellow A-League side North Queensland Fury in 2010, scoring nine goals for the club but rang chairman Tony Sage to tell him he would not be returning to Western Australia. "Firstly, I'd like to show my appreciation to the chairman for his understanding," said Fowler. "The chairman has been exceptional since I signed for the club, and I thank him for the opportunity to play for Perth Glory. "I have a wonderful and loving family to consider and with the children in school, it's best to keep them settled. "I also need to stay in the UK to complete my coaching badges. "I thank everyone at Perth Glory and in Western Australia for making me feel so welcome and I wish (manager) Ian Ferguson and the players all the best for the coming season." While disappointed, Sage was supportive of Fowler's decision. "Robbie has put Perth Glory on the world map and while I would've loved to have him here for a second season, as a husband and father I understand that his family comes first," he said. "I also appreciate the fact that Robbie called me personally to tell me of his decision. "Robbie will always be welcomed into the Perth Glory family and I can't thank him enough for his contribution to the football club."
