Forward Schuerrle to join Leverkusen from Mainz

Germany under-21 forward Andre Schuerrle will join Bayer Leverkusen from Bundesliga rival Mainz next season on a five-year contract.

The two clubs announced Thursday they had agreed on the move but gave no details of the transfer fee. Schuerrle is set to join Leverkusen in July, after the current season ends.

Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes said the 19-year-old Schuerrle is ''one of the outstanding attacking talents in the Bundesliga.''

Schuerrle has scored seven goals in 35 German league games - one of them in Mainz's 2-1 victory last Sunday against Kaiserslautern. That gave Mainz three wins in its first three matches.
