Former Man United manager David Moyes linked with Real Sociedad job
Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has been linked with the manager's job at Real Sociedad after Jagoba Arrasate was sacked on Sunday.
Arrasate was fired by the Basque club after a disappointing start to the campaign that has left them in the La Liga relegation zone.
They have won just one of their opening 10 league fixtures and were eliminated from the Europa League before the group stages following a defeat to Russian side Krasnodar in August.
Arrasate failed to win a single game in September and October and it appears a 1-0 home defeat to Malaga on Saturday was the final straw for the Sociedad board.
"Real Sociedad have decided to relieve Jagoba Arrasate of his duties as first-team coach," said a statement on the club's official website.
Arrasate joined Sociedad as their youth coach in 2010 before becoming assistant to Philippe Montanier two years later and then took the top job when the Frenchman left to coach Rennes last May.
He led the team to a seventh-place finish last season and in April this year his contract was extended to 2016, but he has paid the price for a woeful start to this campaign.
Former Everton boss Moyes has been out of work since losing his job at Old Trafford in April after less than a season in charge.
Reports in Spain have also linked former West Brom coach Pepe Mel with the vacancy.
