CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. --

A former New York college soccer goalie is being credited with making the save of his life.

The Daily Gazette of Schenectady reports that 22-year-old Adam Myers of Ballston Spa, New York had just finished playing golf in an Albany suburb last Friday when he saw a burning car speed through the parking lot.

The car went down a hill and into a pond. Myers and another man dashed to car, which was engulfed in flames. The driver was on fire when they pulled him out, so Myers threw mud on him to douse the flames.

He says the man had gasoline cans in the back seat. The man was listed in critical condition. Police say their investigation is continuing.

Myers graduated in May from Siena College, where he played goalie on the soccer team.
