FIFA says it has received a request from Asia to switch dates for the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil and avoid clashing with 2014 World Cup qualifying matches.
Although FIFA has not formally announced the dates for the eight-nation event, Asia's confederation says the game's ruling body has proposed June 16-30.
Those dates would clash with a final round of 2014 World Cup qualifiers which Asia has scheduled for June 18. FIFA has given confederations four possible dates from June 7-18 for the qualifiers to be played.
Those qualifiers will probably involve Japan, which booked a place at the 2013 Confederations Cup by winning the Asian Cup last weekend.
