FIFA to hear Lisle Austin's appeal of 1-year ban
FIFA says suspended Caribbean leader Lisle Austin will have his appeal heard on Nov. 4 to challenge a one-year ban from soccer duty.
FIFA ruled that the Barbados official broke its regulations by going to an ordinary court during the fallout from a bribery scandal involving former presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam.
Austin sought an injunction against the CONCACAF regional body when it suspended him days after he became its acting president.
Austin had tried to fire CONCACAF general secretary Chuck Blazer, the American official whose evidence file implicating bin Hammam and FIFA vice president Jack Warner sparked the scandal.
FIFA's disciplinary panel banned Austin initially through July 3, 2012, and could increase the length if he continues court action.
