FIFA is investigating whether New Zealand used an ineligible player in an Oceania World Cup qualifying match in March.
The world governing body hasn't named the player but it's believed to be Andrew Durante, the 31-year-old Australian-born central defender who made his New Zealand debut against the Solomon Islands on March 26.
Durante became a New Zealand citizen on March 6 and was named in a New Zealand squad for the first time the following day. He played his only match for New Zealand in its 2-0 win over the Solomon Islands in Honiara.
In a statement Saturday, FIFA said New Zealand has ''been invited to provide their position to FIFA, together with any documentary evidence it might deem appropriate.''
