FIFA has pledged $3 million to help Haiti rebuild its soccer infrastructure.

The sport's governing body created a special fund Thursday in addition to the $250,000 in emergency aid it provided after the Jan. 12 earthquake.

FIFA promised to help rebuild Haiti's soccer federation headquarters, coaching centers and playing fields. FIFA also will provide equipment for leagues and youth competitions.

The ruling body is acting on a report from executive Jack Warner, who visited the country to assess what help was needed.
