FIFA denies Issa Hayatou has Olympics football job
FIFA says that African football leader Issa Hayatou was mistakenly announced as head of its committee organizing Olympics tournaments.
FIFA says its official website made ''a technical error'' naming Hayatou, who is an International Olympic Committee member.
The Confederation of African Football issued a news release Tuesday saying that Hayatou was taking charge of events at the Summer Games and Youth Olympic Games.
FIFA's website also updated committee membership lists.
FIFA says it will communicate appointments ''in due course.'' They are typically confirmed by FIFA's executive committee, which meets Oct. 20-21.
Hayatou's apparent new job made headlines because the IOC's ethics commission is investigating allegations that he took kickbacks from FIFA's former marketing partner.
