A top FIFA investigator who has completed interviews with past and present South African Football Association officials says the first stage of his probe into match-fixing allegations has turned up no evidence implicating South Africans.
FIFA security head Chris Eaton added in a statement Monday that he still needs to interview referees and review some documents.
An international match-fixing scandal has included allegations surrounding international matches in South Africa leading up to the 2010 World Cup. Scandals also have hit soccer in Finland, Italy, South Korea, Turkey and Zimbabwe, among others.
