FIFA 17 ratings: Kante is rated less than Pedro for Chelsea??

Published Sep. 13, 2016 12:30 a.m. ET

FIFA 17 demo day is here. How well do Chelsea’s ratings match up with what we’ve seen so far this season and what we endured with the Blues last year?

It’s here! Alongside the Premier League season starting, so too comes the release of everyone’s favourite football video-game, FIFA 17. Shout-out to the three Pro Evolution Soccer fans out there.

So start the long winter months of becoming frustrated with how your team play, before showing them how it’s done through your own career mode. Such as Tammy Abraham pulling Bristol City through matches, while your Be A Pro player will score 68 goals in leading the line for Plymouth Argyle.

FIFA causes angst to the millions, yet provides a channel to focus anger. Chelsea could finally buy Lionel Messi, if only on FIFA.

Being the best FIFA player on the planet, I am thoroughly excited about extending my greatness into FIFA 17. The new Journey mode looks like the start of something unique they can build upon.

Of course, there are already some questionable decisions with the player ratings. Michy Batshuayi revealed his displeasure.

Let’s get to the ratings then!

Goalkeepers

83

Asmir Begovic

FIFA 16 - 82, GK

Still a decent goalkeeper, played reasonably well last season.89

Thibaut Courtois

FIFA 16 - 86, GK

After reviewing the Belgian’s performances from last season and this season, EA Sports somehow decided he needed an upgrade. Courtois should have improved, but he didn’t. This season started considerably wobbly, too.Next: Defenders

Defenders

77

Marcos Alonso

FIFA 16 - 75, LM

Interestingly listed as a left-midfielder. Antonio Conte will only use him there if he switches to three at the back.80

Branislav Ivanovic

FIFA 16 - 80, RB

He has started the season well but 80 reflects his overall drop-off in play since 2014.80

Kurt Zouma

FIFA 16 - 77, RB

Injury stunted his growth. Chelsea’s best defender and his rating should reflect that.83

Gary Cahill

FIFA 16 - 83, CB

Should have seen his rating lowered after the shambles that was the Chelsea defence last season.84

Cesar Azpilicueta

FIFA 16 - 82, LB

Perennially underrated, the Spaniard deserved an upgrade despite an underwhelming past year.84

John Terry

FIFA 16 - 85, CB

His game took a large step backwards last year and it’s reflected, albeit slightly, in his rating.84

David Luiz

FIFA 16 - 83, CB

He has a 73 passing rating. Chelsea could use that in a depleted back-line.Next: Midfielders

Midfielders

78

Mikel John Obi

FIFA 16 - 77, CDM

Somehow received a boost in his rating. He is a magical man. Let’s say it was for his bronze medal.84

Nemanja Matic

FIFA 16 - 84, CDM

The Serbian’s rating must still be based off the 2014/15 season.81

N'Golo Kante

FIFA 16 - 76, CM

This man should be over 85. Seriously, come on.86

Cesc Fabregas

FIFA 16 - 87, CM

It’s hard to see him ending the season with this high a rating.68

Nathaniel Chalobah

FIFA 16 - 68, CM

Needs to be played for his sake, for Chelsea’s sake and for my sake. I mean, he needs to play for his FIFA rating.77

Marco Van Ginkel

FIFA 16 - 75, CM

Played well to end the season at PSV, but is constantly injured. Did you know he was still at Chelsea?Next: Attackers

Attackers

68

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

FIFA 16 - 63, CAM

Chelsea’s youth star is still rated in the 60’s. Showed flashes of brilliance last year and has been moved to striker. Yet EA still have him listed at CAM, maybe they aren’t paying attention.83

Oscar

FIFA 16 - 84, CAM

Still listed as a central attacking-midfielder, his postition (and rating) should change in the first update. Especially considering how well he’s started the season at centre-midfield.77

Victor Moses

FIFA 16 - 76, LM

New lease of life back at Chelsea, can be used as a super-sub on the game just as Antonio Conte has done.83

Pedro

FIFA 16 - 83, LM

He’s rated higher than Kante. Go figure.85

Willian

FIFA 16 - 82, RM

Chelsea’s Player of the Year gets a big upgrade to his rating. In real life needs to use his 89 rated pace more.88

Eden Hazard

FIFA 16 - 89, LM

The only player whose rating has been affected by the 2015/16 season, it seems. Should be Chelsea’s highest rated player at the very least.81

Michy Batshuayi

FIFA 16 - 78, ST

He will be rated 99 in FIFA 18. Guarantee it.85

Diego Costa

FIFA 16 - 86, ST

His aggression must be 99.

Chelsea FC’s 50 Greatest Players Of All-Time

Courtois shouldn’t have been given an increased rating, while Kante’s is criminally low.
