Feyenoord missing Tomasson - Been

BY foxsports • September 10, 2010

The Rotterdammers lie fifth in the Dutch league and hope to launch a major title challenge this season. But their cause has not been helped by the former Denmark international suffering the effects of a thigh injury sustained during the World Cup. Tomasson has not played this season and Been is eager to see the experienced forward back on the field. "I want to make it clear that I don't resent Jon for being out. He is a top professional and knows his body better than anyone. I am also sure that he himself wants to play as quickly as possible," he told Voetbal International. "But I am frustrated as we could make good use of Jon. "We have a really young team and Tomasson's experience is very important to us." Feyenoord do not appear to have missed the former Villarreal striker too much with just one defeat in their opening four games in addition to 10 goals scored but Been disagrees. He added: "We have problems scoring and that is something Jon could help us with. "He was not our top scorer last season for nothing. "I do not know when he will be back. He is working on his recovery and I just hope we have him available soon. A fit Tomasson is very welcome." Also on Sunday, fourth-placed FC Groningen host FC Utrecht while second-bottom De Graafschap go to ADO Den Haag. Joint leaders Ajax take on rock-bottom Willem II on Saturday evening having further boosted their squad this week with the arrival of goalkeeper Ronald Graafland. Graafland has been drafted in on a season-long deal to provide cover for Maarten Stekelenburg with regular number two Kenneth Vermeer currently sidelined through injury. Graafland was not offered a new deal by Vitesse at the end of last season and admits he is looking forward to trying his luck with the Amsterdam giants. He said: "My goal at Ajax is to get pleasure from playing football again. I haven't had that over the past two seasons." Ajax share top spot with PSV Eindhoven with the two teams having identical records. PSV meet NEC Nijmegen at the Philips Stadion on Saturday. FC Twente have made a solid start to the defence of their Eredivisie crown, lying just two points adrift of the leading pair. They will expect to maintain the pressure on the top two when they visit VVV-Venlo. Elsewhere on Saturday, AZ Alkmaar host Roda JC, Heracles go to Excelsior and Heerenveen meet Vitesse Arnhem.
