Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes chairman has made a robust defence of his stewardship of the club following criticism on Twitter.

Defeat at home to West Brom on Boxing Day left the Loftus Road outfit bottom of the Premier League, with just one win under their belts this season.

QPR fans took to the social media site to vent their feelings, with one telling Fernandes, "You must take responsibility for this shambles."

However the Malaysian, a frequent user of Twitter, was quick to defend what he sees as the progress being made by the club and responded directly.

"No one else should take the responsibility of QPR plight than me. I am chairman and the buck stops with me. Period."

Fernandes, who took over at QPR in August 2011, later added in a separate Tweet: "Reading some of the rubbish on Twitter. Club is being rebuilt. We inherited little.

"New training ground coming. New stadium. New coaching. New youth recruitment. Good commercial team. So keep the faith."
