After the midweek EFL Cup ties, the Premier League returns at the weekend. Here are five fantasy football transfers to target for gameweek 6.
The rhythm of the regular season is well and truly underway. European football is back, domestic cup competitions for all league sides have begun and the Premier League rumbles on to game week 6 this weekend. With it, comes fantasy football. With the scheduled return of Sergio Aguero from a three-match suspension due to a stray elbow dominating much of the talk among fantasy football circles, there are a whole host of decisions to make, with many, myself included, choosing to wildcard this week.
So, in light of such uncertainty among the routine, here are five transfers to target for game week 6.

5. Michail Antonio
With a midfielder recording 5 points for a goal rather than the usual 4 for strikers, a goalscoring midfielder is a fantasy football manager’s dream. In recent seasons, the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Aaron Ramsey have wormed their way into a host of teams. This year, the man of the moment could well be Michail Antonio.
West Ham’s right winger’s fantasy value was under threat throughout the summer with talk of him playing at right-back, rather his more advanced position in midfield. However, such doubts seem to have subsided in recent weeks after a string of impressive performances, even with his side struggling greatly.
In his last four games, Antonio has scored in every game, five in total, recording 11, 7, 13 and 7 points. He is now the fourth highest scoring midfielder of the season and still priced at only £7.3, is a relatively cheap option to pair with the many pricier options that are performing at such a high level this far.
Moreover, his upcoming fixtures, Southampton (H), Middlesborough (H), Crystal Palace (A) and Sunderland (H), offer some incredible opportunities to build upon his substantial returns. Antonio is a must buy, especially if you’re on a wildcard.

4. Leighton Baines
There is not a fantasy football star bigger than Leighton Baines. At least, a bigger star that is as undervalued and understated as he is. A defender who scores goals, primarily thanks to his set piece duties, and his potential for assists like Baines is absolute gold.
Moreover, with Ronald Koeman coming in, what has held back the fantasy potential of Baines most recently – that being a combination of injuries and the fact that a Roberto Martinez managed side believe that defending doesn’t exist – is no longer an issue.
Everton have kept two clean sheets in their last three (and were unlucky not to make it three thanks to a questionable foul from Alvaro Negredo on Maarten Stekelenburg), and have looked far more resolute defensively thanks to the experience of Koeman and centre-halves Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka.
Moreover, priced at £5.6, Baines is still a reasonable value for his high scoring potential and with Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Burnley in his next four, has some nice fixtures to build on an encouraging start to the season.
HULL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 17: Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal celebrates scoring his sides third goal during the Premier League match between Hull City and Arsenal at KCOM Stadium on September 17, 2016 in Hull, England. (Photo by Tony Marshall/Getty Images)
3. Alexis Sanchez
Buy all Arsenal assets. The form is improving, the goals are beginning to flow after four in successive games thanks to their dismissals of Hull City and Nottingham Forest and the fixtures are truly incredible.
More from Pain in the Arsenal
After facing Chelsea this weekend, Arsenal then play Burnley (A), Swansea (H), Middlesborough (H) and Sunderland (A) in their next four. So, who should you target of their many attacking weapons?
Well, exactly because of the host of options that Wenger has available to him, the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi are not guaranteed starts. If they play, they are extremely enticing options, but it is a risk and could quite easily leave you with a single point thanks to a ten-minute substitute appearance.
Consequently, investing in Alexis Sanchez at £11.0 is a sensible move. The price may be steep, but with the possibility of him playing as a central striker and his goal scoring form beginning to peak, he could well end the season as the highest scoring midfielder.

2. Sergio Aguero
Whenever Aguero is playing, he is essential. He’s played three games this season and scored three goals, is the central striker in the best attack in the Premier League and has proven over an extended period of time an incredible goal scoring talent.
Moreover, his high ownership necessitates investing him. While his price, £13.0, is certainly offputting, because almost every other manager has him in their teams, if he is absent from yours, then the negative effect on your rankings is accentuated further.
His fixtures are not the best either. While this Saturday’s trip to Swansea provides the Argentine with a prime opportunity to get back in the goals, City then face Spurs (A), Everton (H) and Southampton (H) in their next three.
However, this is Sergio Aguero playing in a Manchester City side under Pep Guardiola that is seemingly unstoppable so far this season. Pairing Aguero with Raheem Sterling or Kevin De Bruyne could well bring great rewards with this City attack scoring bucket loads of goals. Extensive surgery to our squads is necessary to bring Aguero in, but he is absolutely worth it.
WATFORD, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 18: Etienne Capoue of Watford celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Watford and Manchester United at Vicarage Road on September 18, 2016 in Watford, England. (Photo by Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images)
1. Etienne Capoue
Each and every week, I have been banging the drum of Watford’s Etienne Capoue. After another impressive performance on Sunday against Manchester United, surely you’re listening now.
Capoue has been nothing short of sensational so far this season. Scoring 44 points in total, more than any other player from any position, Capoue has scored four goals in five games, recorded five assists and is now an absolute essential add for his price.
At only £5.0, Capoue is still a viable bench option for our squads without eating too much into our budget and has also been able to add bonus points to his returns. It is not just goals and assists that make the Watford midfielder such a weapon. Other than the Arsenal match where he only scored the two usual appearance points, Capoue has amassed 3, 2, 3 and 3 bonus points.
That is outstanding production no matter the price. At £5.0? It’s a no-brainer.
Even if that doesn’t convince you, then check his fixtures. Capoue faces Burnely (A), Bouremouth (H), Middlesborough (A), Swansea (A) and Hull (H) in his next five. Wow!
The two pillars of fantasy football, form and fixtures are making a statue of Etienne Capoue. It’s time to praise his almighty performances.
