Fans shot before Flamengo-Vasco game

Brazilian police say at least four soccer fans were shot during a fight before Flamengo's clash with Vasco da Gama.

Police say 80 fans were detained after the incident Sunday in which six other people were hurt.

Local media citing police say at least one person died, but a police spokeswoman could not immediately confirm those reports.

Police say men in a car fired at a large group of supporters in the middle of a fight in the city of Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro. It was not immediately clear how the fight began.

Flamengo went on to win the Rio de Janeiro state championship 3-1 on penalties after the match against Vasca finished goalless.
