Fans clash with police after Corinthians victory
Authorities say hundreds of Corinthians fans clashed with riot police in Sao Paulo following the team's victory in the Copa Libertadores final.
Police say they used rubber bullets and tear gas to contain the nearly 500 fans celebrating early Thursday at the Avenida Paulista, the city's financial center and popular celebration spot. Fans reportedly threw rocks and broken bottles at the officers.
Authorities said there were no major injuries, although one fan was reportedly hit by a rubber bullet and an officer sustained a minor leg wound.
Elsewhere, one man was hospitalized in stable condition after about 10 fans were run over by a driver who apparently was intoxicated.
Corinthians won its first title in Latin America's most important club competition with a 2-0 win over Argentina's Boca Juniors on Wednesday.
