Fan suing Sunderland after being hit by stray shot
Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says a fan is suing the club after being hit by a stray shot from former striker Djibril Cisse in a practice session.
Quinn told a local radio phone-in that the supporter was left badly hurt while he watched the Sunderland squad train during the 2008-09 season.
Quinn said Thursday that ''I think it was one of Djibril Cisse's misses where he had a shot from 20 yards (meters) ... That supporter is in the process of suing us right now.''
Quinn said ''I'm making fun of it now, but it knocked a supporter out. It was quite serious.''
Since that incident, Sunderland no longer allows fans to watch the team train.
Cisse was on loan at the Premier League team from French side Marseille that season, scoring 11 goals in 38 games.
