Ex-MLS standout Torres accused of sexual assault in Mexico
Erick "Cubo" Torres, who currently plays for Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara, and who is set to join MLS team Houston Dynamo at season's end, is being accused of sexual abuse, this according to a report from El Diario CANCHA.
The alleged abuse occurred at a gathering in Zapopan Jalisco, Mexico. The 19-year-old woman accusing Torres stated that he invited her to a private party in a motel, and that she agreed to accompany him.
While there, she alleges that several Chivas players were present, among them Jorge Enriquez Garcia and Carlos Salcedo. The woman detailed that the alleged abuse occurred in the same motel, around 2:20 a.m. on April 23, 2015.
In a document that CANCHA had access to, she added that she was in a state of inebriation at the time of the incident. "Before the person that was mixing the drinks handed me a drink, they asked Torres if he wanted the drink with "demon" or "no demon" and he would say to add it. It was after those drinks, which I had probably drank around 5 of them, that I began to feel nauseated and strange," the document says.
It is important to note that CANCHA does not clarify or expand on what is meant, or what is being denoted by "demon."
After the incident, the woman claimed that Torres then dropped her off at her home. The complaint was then made on April 25, 2015. Following protocol, she turned in the clothes she had on that night, and they performed the routine psychological and medical procedures.
On a final note made by CANCHA, she also stated that Torres kept reaching out to her via text messages. "I want to state that at this moment, I do not have the cell phone with me again, since the battery died, but on that phone I have all the text messages that Torres was sending me, which I am more than willing to present whenever it is required."
