England omissions disappoint Gyan
Sunderland striker Gyan also has sympathy at the 21,000 visiting fans who will be deprived the chance to watch the likes of Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and John Terry. But he is under no illusions to the task still facing Ghana if they are to become the first African nation to defeat England. Gyan said: "We were expecting the changes. I might be disappointed but it is one of those things. "Maybe the fans are disappointed because we have never played against England. "Maybe some of the fans are there to see the big names and they are not playing. "They have paid a lot of money. They came to see Rooney and the big players. "But from our viewpoint, it doesn't matter. Those players who are coming to face Ghana are also good players. "It is an English national team. Maybe they might be better than those players that are out!" Gyan added: "England are still a strong side. Everyone knows England. We will have to be very careful. "They have never lost to an African team and we have to stay focused and see what happens. "But we are ready for anyone at all who is playing against Ghana." Ghana skipper and Gyan's clubmate, John Mensah, echoed his sentiments. The Black Cats defender said: "It would be nice to see the big names but I don't think those that are playing are not good. "I know that if they have the national jersey, they are good players. "We all know Rooney and some of the others who are big names and we respect all of them. "But anyone who wears the jersey is a capable player." Gyan has been impressed by Jack Wilshere who made his competitive debut for England during Saturday's 2-0 win over Wales in Cardiff. He said: "Wilshere has made a big impression. He is a young lad who is improving so well. "He is getting his confidence into the national team. Capello is a good coach who is improving the players."
