England reserve goalkeeper John Ruddy has been ruled out of the European Championship after breaking his finger in training.

The Football Association says Ruddy will be replaced by Jack Butland, who plays for Birmingham in the second-tier League Championship but spent this season on loan at fourth-tier Cheltenham.

Ruddy was one of two uncapped players included in England's 23-man squad for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine but the Norwich goalkeeper was hurt in a training session on Thursday.

Joe Hart will be England's starting keeper at Euro 2012, with Robert Green as second choice.
