Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is resting Patrice Evra for the Europa League match against Ajax to give his captain time to recover from an ''emotional'' week following his spat with Luis Suarez.
The France defender was snubbed by Suarez in the pre-match handshake before United's home match with Liverpool on Saturday, their first meeting since the striker was banned for eight matches for racially abusing Evra during a game.
Ferguson says ''we have rested Patrice. It's been an emotional week for him and it's the right thing to do.''
Suarez apologized Sunday for refusing to shake Evra's hand, an incident which sparked an ill-tempered match at Old Trafford.
