Carlisle United trialist Danny Emerton believes he could fit in at the club and is determined to earn a deal at Brunton Park.

The attacking midfielder, released by Hull City following their promotion to the Premier League, has been training with the Cumbrians for the past few days.

He completed 90 minutes in a 1-0 pre-season victory over Penrith on Friday night and admits he is loving life at the club.

"I've been here a week and it's been great - I could see myself fitting in here and hopefully I'll be able to," the 21-year-old told the News & Star.

"It's a great little club. I've come from Hull and it's a lot different, more compact, more of a family unit."

Emerton admits he is keen to find a club where he can play regular first-team football after finding it frustrating on the fringes at Hull.

"I'm desperate for it - I've been three years as a pro and playing reserve team football for three years," he said.

"Since the start of last season I wasn't even contemplating trying to get into the team, I was just looking to get out on loan. That didn't work out so I just need the break now."
