Ecuador midfielder Luis Fernando Saritama has been ruled out of the Copa America because of a right thigh injury less than two weeks before the continental championship in Argentina begins.
Coach Reinaldo Rueda confirmed Saritama's loss on Tuesday, and said the Deportivo Quito player would be replaced by Geovanny Nazareno.
Ecuador faces Mexico on Saturday in a friendly in Quito before traveling to Argentina for the July 1 start of the tournament.
Ecuador faces Paraguay, Venezuela and Brazil in its group matches.
