Alan Dzagoev scored his third goal of the European Championship on Tuesday to give Russia a 1-0 halftime over Poland.
Dzagoev darted past the Polish defense in the 37th minute and sent a glancing header beyond goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton after a curling free kick from Andrei Arshavin.
The match was marred even before kickoff by fighting between hooligans from both countries that left several people injured as thousands of Russian fans marched to the National Stadium to celebrate the Russia Day national holiday.
Russia beat the Czech Republic 4-1 in its opening match, while Poland drew 1-1 with Greece.
