Dynamo held by Chivas USA on Padilla's goal

Jesus Padilla saved a point for Chivas USA by scoring on a header in the 71st minute for a 1-1 tie with the Houston Dynamo in a SuperLiga group game.

Lovel Palmer scored for Houston, which has four points in Group A.

Palmer scored in the sixth minute by controlling an attempted clearance and sending a floater into the far side from 14 yards out on the right.

Padilla entered in the 24th for United States team member Jonathan Bornstein, who left with an injured right ankle after Andrew Hainault's hard tackle in the 18th.

In the second match, Mario Ortiz scored two second-half goals to lead Puebla into the SuperLiga semifinals with a 3-1 win over Pachuca in the second leg of group play.

Puebla leads Group A with a 2-0-0 record and six points heading into its group finale Wednesday against Houston, while Pachuca falls to 0-2-0 with no points in group play heading into its group finale Wednesday against Chivas USA.

Gabriel Pereyra gave Puebla a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute after getting a pass from Ortiz in the middle of the box and hitting a left-footed shot into the right of the net from 10 yards.

Ortiz scored in the 67th minute after getting a pass in the box and hitting a shot from 10 yards in the middle box into the right of the net. Ortiz scored again in the 75th minute to make it 3-0 before Franco Arizala scored in the 80th minute for Pachuca.

Pachuca played the final 27 minutes a man down after Dario Cvitanich was given a straight red card for giving a Pachuca player a sliding kick to the head.
