Dutch KNVB Cup preview
Vitesse take on NAC Breda in the second round on Tuesday hoping to pick up where they left off in a stunning final 20 minutes against Roda JC at the weekend. John van den Brom's side went into Saturday's clash on the back on two heavy defeats - going down 4-1 at Ajax and then losing 4-0 to AZ Alkmaar - but responded in emphatic fashion with. Having reached 70 minutes 1-0 ahead they poured forward in the closing stages as Guram Kashia, Giorgi Chanturia, Alexander Buttner and Julian Jenner all followed Marco van Ginkel onto the scoresheet. Van den Brom was left in awe of his team's attacking efforts and said: "I was on the edge of my seat in the second half, I was really enjoying my football team. "Everything in their football was fun, beautiful and as attractive as I've seen." NAC are also in improved spirits, though, after claiming a first Eredivisie win of the campaign against NEC Nijmegen on Friday night. That match-up is one of just two all top-flight fixtures on Tuesday night, with Heerenveen's trip to VVV Venlo the other. It is the second trip to De Koel for Ron Jans' Heerenveen in three days after they recorded a convincing 3-0 victory on Saturday. "I want to build good feelings here and the pressure is on to put together a good sequence," he said. "We want to grow and recent results have provided belief." The returning Oussama Assaidi scored the last of those in the 89th minute and could get the chance to get some more playing time under his belt. "Oussama was not very fit, and that was evident. His return was not optimal and sometimes left his defensive duties run." said Jans after the game. Of the other Eredivisie sides in action, NEC Breda visit Fortuna Sittard, Roda have the chance to get the Vitesse result out of their system with a trip to Bennekom and Excelsior travel to their near namesakes Excelsior '31. Feyenoord, meanwhile, have a home draw against AGOVV. Elsewhere ARC host MVV, Cambur Leeuwarden take on Eereste Divisie high-fliers FC Zwolle, Top Oss visit EVV and GO Ahead Eagles welcome Helmod Sport. The day's fixture list is completed by Willem II's match at Harkemase Boys, Dordrecht's clash with Ijsselmeervogels, Montfoort's home game with Sparta, Nijerk versus Staphorst, FC Den Bosch away to WKE and Zwaluwen '30 home clash with GVVV Veenendaal.
