Mick McCarthy's men clawed their way out of the Premier League drop zone on Sunday with a 3-1 derby victory over arch-rivals West Brom, but know they still have work to do if they are to preserve their top-flight status. Steven Fletcher proved to be the hero against the Baggies, as he bagged a brace, but Doyle is widely regarded as Wolves' attacking talisman. With that in mind, it came as a major blow when he sustained a knee injury while away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in March. It appeared at one stage as though his season could be over, but he has battled back to put himself in contention for a thrilling climax to the campaign. McCarthy will now be able to call on the 27-year-old's services for crucial clashes against Sunderland and Blackburn. "I'm on track," Doyle told Wolves' official website. "I haven't trained with the lads yet but, having been working outside with the physios running and doing a bit of shooting and being out on the Molineux pitch before yesterday's game, I'm hoping to join in again with the lads in the next few days. "It's been just over six weeks now and if I am back at the weekend it will be around the sort of timeline we were expecting. "Hopefully I won't have any reaction this week and if it goes alright I should be available. "I feel I'm naturally fit enough and would be ready if needed but the pressure won't be on this week after such a fantastic performance from the lads yesterday. "If I can get through a few days training then hopefully I've got a chance of being on the bench."
