Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender will miss the three upcoming Germany matches because of a knee injury.
Germany plays Uruguay in a friendly Sunday in Sinsheim, then visits Austria and Azerbaijan for two Euro 2012 qualifiers.
The German football federation says Bender had surgery on his left knee on Wednesday after helping Borussia Dortmund win the Bundesliga title and will be out of action for one month.
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss the three matches because of a broken toe.
