Dortmund fined for pyrotechnic celebrations

Borussia Dortmund has been fined ?5,000 ($6,950) after flares and smoke bombs were lit by fans celebrating the club's league title triumph during the final Bundesliga game of last season.

The German football federation said Thursday it issued the fine for ''unsporting behavior'' during the interval of Dortmund's game with Eintracht Frankfurt on May 14, when the second half was delayed for ''about a minute.''

Second division club Dynamo Dresden was meanwhile fined ?7,000 after fans lit large firecrackers during its game at Greuther Fuerth on Aug. 6.
