Derby manager Nigel Clough will check on Jake Buxton before deciding which four players will make up his defence against Bolton.
On Saturday against Wolves, the Rams were without four injured central defenders and first-choice left-back Gareth Roberts, who started a three-match suspension following his red card in the defeat at Hull.
Buxton, Mark O'Brien, James O'Connor and Shaun Barker, who is a long-term absentee, were all out with knee injuries.
Buxton was due to be on the bench against Wolves but he failed a fitness test before the game.
In his absence, full-back John Brayford partnered Richard Keogh at the heart of the back four and Kieron Freeman, 20, made only his fourth start at right-back.
Teenager Michael Hoganson, released by Newcastle in the summer, was drafted in for his first senior start at left-back.
Buxton will again be checked but O'Brien and O'Connor will remain unavailable.
Clough will also check on midfielder Will Hughes after he was replaced after 63 minutes of the goalless draw with Wolves due to a groin strain.
Bolton will be without full-back Marcos Alonso.
The former Real Madrid youngster picked up two yellow cards during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest and must serve a one-match ban.
