The Holland international, 28, has been with the Amsterdam club for the past two years but will now embark on a fresh challenge in Russia after penning a long-term contract. De Zeeuw had recently used Twitter to reveal he was close to agreeing a move to Moscow. The former Go Ahead Eagles and AZ Alkmaar player, part of the Dutch squad that reached last year's World Cup final in South Africa, has joined his new team-mates at a training camp in Austria ahead of the second half of the Premier Liga season. Spartak are reported to have paid a fee in the region of €7million (£6.3m) for De Zeeuw and a statement on the club website confirming the deal read: "28-year-old Dutch midfielder Demy de Zeeuw has joined Spartak on a long-term contract."
