Genoa says Luigi De Canio will remain the team's coach through next season.
De Canio took over at the end of last season to coach Genoa for the final five games and narrowly escape relegation from Serie A.
Genoa's general director Pietro Lo Monaco told a news conference Friday that De Canio has signed the deal for a year. He took over for the second time earlier this year after Alberto Malesani was fired.
De Canio previously coached Genoa in 2004 to avoid relegation from Serie B. He was fired from the club at the start of the 2005-6 season.
