Ajax boss Frank de Boer has conceded that he hopes to take charge of Manchester City at some stage in the future.

Speculation has suggested that current City manager Roberto Mancini is working on borrowed time, with the Blues having fallen short in their efforts to defend the Premier League title.

Success in the FA Cup may grant him a stay of execution, but uncertainty continues to hang over the Etihad Stadium dugout.

De Boer is among those believed to be under consideration by City, and he admits he would welcome the opportunity to take such a high-profile post in the Premier League.

He said: "Manchester City are something I want to do, yes. But it is difficult for me to move my family abroad at the moment.

"I have to consider others, not just myself."

Pressed on the future of the club's coach, Ajax director Marc Overmars said: "Am I worried? Not for losing Frank now, but City will be a big competitor for his signature in the near future."
