Dalglish: We'll learn from loss
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish says last weekend's defeat at West Ham will not be swept under the carpet as they have to 'repair' the problems.
The 3-1 loss at Upton Park ended an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions and severely dented the Reds' hopes of sneaking into Champions League qualification contention.
However, with arch rivals Manchester United next up at Anfield on Sunday, Dalglish knows this week has to be about learning from their mistakes and preparing for that clash.
"We will sit down and the players can go through the game and make sure we learn from the mistakes that were made," he said.
"We will look to see where we went wrong and try to repair it.
"Collectively we will move forward but we won't dismiss it. We will get back in and a week's training will do us no harm at all."
Dalglish's plans suffered a blow when it was confirmed right-back Martin Kelly, who has been an ever-present in the league since the 59-year-old took over in January, will be out for a month with a hamstring tear sustained against West Ham.
"He'll be out for a number of weeks. It's disappointing for the player because he's been on a good run doing well for us," said first-team coach Steve Clarke.
"It's a blow for us but we can handle it and we'll move on."
There was more optimistic news, though, on midfielder Raul Meireles and defenders Daniel Agger and Fabio Aurelio.
Meireles, who has been in great goalscoring form of late, was substituted with a knee problem in the second half against the Hammers.
"We're hopeful (on Meireles)," added Clarke.
"He had a little problem with his knee and as a precaution we thought it was better to take him off.
"That gives him a better chance of being ready for the next game.
"He'll get three or four days on the easier list and then hopefully towards the end of the week we'll be able to put him back in the preparations for the weekend."
Aurelio injured his adductor in the first leg of Liverpool's Europa League last-32 tie against Sparta Prague last month while Agger limped off in the return at Anfield last week.
"They are both on the easy list at the moment and we're almost sure Fabio Aurelio will join full training on Thursday," said Clarke.
"We're hopeful Daniel will join us on Thursday or Friday at the latest."
