Paraguayan defender Paulo Da Silva has joined Real Zaragoza from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old joined the Black Cats from Toluca in the summer of 2009 and made 20 appearances for Steve Bruce's side last season.

Da Silva impressed as captain of his country in the 2010 World Cup but has struggled to hold down a first-team place in the current campaign and has featured just three times.

The centre-back joins a Zaragoza side who lie 15th in La Liga.
