Severe weather in the Chicago area forced postponement of the U.S. Open Cup match between Chicago and Columbus on Wednesday night.

The fourth round Open Cup match between the MLS rivals will be played at noon (CDT) on Thursday.

Lightning was observed beginning early evening around the arena, located in Chicago's southwest suburbs. A U.S. Open Cup official said both teams agreed to the postponement for the safety of players and fans.
