Coyle: More to come from Trotters

Coyle: More to come from Trotters

These remain early days, both this season and in terms of Coyle's reign as he has only been in charge for just over nine months. But Saturday's 2-1 injury-time win over Stoke has elevated Bolton to seventh in the Barclays Premier League, just three points behind second-placed Arsenal. It is clear Coyle has turned Bolton into a far more difficult team to beat these days, as one loss from their opening eight matches testifies. The Scot can have no complaints but he knows there is more to come from a group of players undoubtedly enjoying working with him. "The great thing is we're one of the teams in the Barclays Premier League that has spent little or next to nothing," said Coyle. "We've not spent £15million or £20million like some other clubs, and of course we wish we had that available, but we don't. "So we make the best of what we've got, and we've a group of players who are a joy to work with, they really are. "They come in with a smile on their face on a daily basis and are prepared to work hard, to take on board what we are trying to say, the points I'm trying to get across. "In this game they showed their quality, and long may that continue, so we're pleased at this moment, but we're nowhere near. "We're very much a work in progress and we have to continue with our hard work in each and every game, which presents a different challenge in what is the best league in the world. "To get the three points, which are elusive in this league because of the nature of it and the quality you face, puts us in a nice position, but that's all it is. "All the hard work is ahead of us, we know that, and we're prepared for it." Up until a frenetic final few minutes it appeared Bolton were on course for a fourth successive draw at the Reebok Stadium this season. In an entertaining game, Lee Chung-yong's first club goal for nine months midway through the first half was cancelled out just three minutes after the restart when Rory Delap ended a 21-month drought. Both sides then wasted chances and the game looked set to remain a draw until 77th-minute substitute Ivan Klasnic latched onto a long throw from Gretar Steinsson in the second minute of injury time to rifle home the winner. But Klasnic's afternoon did not end there as he then collected two yellow cards in three minutes to earn himself a red and subsequent dismissal. Although disappointed, it failed to take the gloss off a fine win for Coyle who added: "It's great to get that first home win "It means we're still unbeaten at home, although I still believe we should have more points than we do at this stage. "But we were fully deserving of the three here and we're delighted to get them."
