Coyle gunning for Vela green light
The Trotters have made no secret of their desire to bolster their attack during the January transfer window and have been chasing Mexican starlet Vela, also a reported target for West Brom, for some time. Arsene Wenger is open to the idea of sending the 21-year-old out on loan, with there no guarantee he will get regular games at The Emirates. Coyle, who took Jack Wilshere from the Gunners last term, is hoping that situation will play into his hands and he will soon have added competition for places up front. He said: "It's not rocket science to know that there are only a few days left of the window. Certainly Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will make a decision on that in the next couple of days. "I'm sure, as they always have been, they will be very courteous with us and we will be the first to know. If we get the green light then we will look to act upon it, if not, there we go." Coyle has also been linked with a move for Manchester City's out-of-favour winger Shaun Wright-Phillips of late, but the Scot has refused to confirm whether the England international is on his wish list. "We have been linked with a couple of players. It's fair to say we are looking to bring one or two in," he said. "We would love to add to the squad we have got. It would be naive of me, though, to mention any other names. "Carlos Vela has been mentioned because it has been well documented from the outset. "But to mention anybody else, we are not the biggest or most powerful club in the league, so I wouldn't want to be losing out to anybody else because we have made our targets known."
