Coyle expecting spirited cup tie
Coyle's Bolton side are in the thick of a relegation battle while Tottenham are pushing for a top-four place in the Premier League. Yet while both clubs could argue they have more pressing concerns than this weekend, Coyle believes the Reebok Stadium tie will bear all the usual top-flight intensity. Coyle also insists nothing should be read into the recent results of either team. Bolton have won just two of seven under their new manager and Harry Redknapp's men were surprised by Wolves in midweek. "I think we have been playing pretty well," said Coyle. "It is a game we go into confident and if we play to our maximum we can win the game. "I would suggest Tottenham would come out fired up because they have lost an important game. "They are fighting for that top four spot and have the quality to do that. "I think Harry will recognise they are in for a tough game. I think it has got the makings of a cracking FA Cup tie. That's why we love football. "We have to make sure are at our best to compete against them." Coyle, however, has not lost sight of where the Trotters' priorities really lie. The former Wanderers striker quit Burnley last month to take over at the Reebok Stadium following the sacking of Gary Megson. The team still remain some way short of safety in the Premier League having slipped to 19th following Tuesday's loss at Manchester City. "You have to give balance," Coyle said. "When we came into the job, we came in to try to ensure the club remains in the Premier League. That is the priority. "We know we have some big games coming up in the league - but they won't be on our mind come Sunday."
