Cottagers favourites in Burn race
The Cottagers are looking to bolster their squad for next season with Burn reportedly set to undergo a medical at Craven Cottage. The talented teenager has emerged as a transfer target for a number of Premier League clubs with Everton boss David Moyes confirming a bid had been lodged last week. But it appears the Cottagers are now at the head of the queue for the Quakers youngster, who has also been linked with Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester City. Centre-back Burn did not feature for the FA Trophy finalists in their 3-1 victory over Bath City in the Blue Square Premier on Saturday so he could travel down to London for discussions with Mark Hughes' men. Quakers boss Mark Cooper told the Northern Echo: "The transfer window is closed so nobody can sign for anybody until the end of the season. "There's a lot of interest in him. He's been down to Fulham, who are very keen on him, and there are other clubs that are also very keen on him. "There are loads of clubs after him, everybody wants him, and rightly so. Whoever gets him will do so at the end of the season. "For me it's important that he goes to the right club, a club that will look after him and fulfil his potential. It's not a piece of meat that we're selling."
