Costa Rica winger Kenny Cunningham has signed a two-year contract with Wellington Phoenix in Australian football's A-League.
The Phoenix on Friday announced the signing of 28-year-old Cunningham, who played most recently for Bolivian club The Strongest. He has been part of Costa Rica's national team for the past two years and played at the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Wellington coach Ernie Merrick said Cunningham's signing was a coup as the club seeks to improve on a last-place finish in 2012-13.
He said he was looking for ''someone with pace who has a credible footballing background.''
