Costa Rica names 23-man squad for Gold Cup in US
Costa Rica coach Ricardo La Volpe has included striker Bryan Ruiz and goalkeeper Keylor Navas among 11 foreign-based players for next month's Gold Cup campaign in the United States.
Ruiz of Dutch club Twente, and Navas, who plays with Albacete in Spain, were joined by Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio in the 23-man squad.
Seven players were left out from La Volpe's preliminary squad but will be available for the Copa America in July, where Costa Rica has been invited to replace Japan.
Among those players is AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado, who was released by the Dutch club for the South American championship on condition he was not selected for both squads.
The Gold Cup takes place June 5-25.
