Congo has withdrawn its bid to host the 2015 African Cup of Nations for financial reasons.

Congo recently had a debt of about $11 billion canceled by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. It says it is pulling out of the race because it is working to host the 2012 Summit of French-speaking countries.

Congo won the African Cup twice in 1960s but has never hosted the tournament.

With Congo out, Morocco and South Africa remain in the race for the 2015 tournament. The winner will be announced in January.
