CONCACAF Champions: Seattle reaches group stage

Uruguay international Alvaro Fernandez's 10-meter (yard) header in the 74th minute earned MLS club Seattle a 1-1 draw with Metapan on Tuesday and a spot in the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Seattle won the first leg at home 1-0 and advances from the qualifying stage 2-1 on aggregate.

Anel Canales scored for Metapan in the first half. The match was played in continuous rain with the field badly cut up and muddy at the end

Seattle will play in Group C of the Champions League with Monterrey, Saprissa and either Tauro of Panama or Marathon of Honduras.
