Coach, 56, plays in Belarusian league game

A 56-year-old soccer coach played in the Belarusian Premier League, but couldn't stop his team from losing.

Yuri Pudyshev, an assistant coach for Dinamo Brest, entered late in the second half against BATE Borisov, wearing a No. 56 shirt. He was greeted by a standing ovation.

Despite the 2-0 loss, the Belarusian Soccer Federation selected Pudyshev the best player in the game.

Pudyshev on the Dinamo Minsk, which won the Soviet Union's national championship in 1982. He also was a member of the Soviet national team.

He made previous appearances for Dinamo Brest the past two years.

Dinamo coach Yuri Puntus hailed Pudyshev's move as an example of ''long service to soccer.''
