The latest figures to be released by the Premier League show that payments to agents by clubs on behalf of players fell from over £70.7million last year to £67.1million to the year ended September 30, 2010. Champions Chelsea topped the list of big spenders with a whopping £9.3million shelled out to agents in the period under review. But last season's leaders, Manchester City, halved their outlay from £12.8million to just under £6million. Chelsea again spent over £9million on agents' fees while newly-promoted Blackpool spent just £45,000. Liverpool's spending rose from £6.6million to over £9million in a period when they were embroiled in the midst of takeover problems. The below table shows the payments made by each Premier League club to agents in the period from October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010. The amounts shown include payments made by clubs on behalf of players.
