Chygrynskiy: Barca switch difficult

Dmytro Chygrynskiy acknowledged Thursday that adapting to life as a Barcelona player has been more difficult than expected, although he insisted he will be a success at the Camp Nou.

"When I signed for Barca I didn't think I was going to play without any problems immediately, but nor did I know it was going to be so hard," said the Ukraine defender, who arrived at the club in the summer of 2009. "There are lots of things you have to get used to, like the surroundings and the media."

Chygrynskiy was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for €25 million ($34.5 million) on a five-year contract.

However, the 23-year-old defender has struggled for form and has only started nine games this season. Fans booed him during the King's Cup loss to Sevilla on Jan. 5.

"Here there's more pressure from people and from the media and the style of play is also very different to Ukraine," Chygrynskiy said. "One thing is desire, another is reality."

Chygrynskiy added that he believes he "will triumph" eventually at the club.
