Chelsea still looking for fresh blood
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay says the club are still in the market for more new signings before the close of the transfer window.
The European champions have been active in the market already this summer and have added to their first-team ranks with the signings of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar.
However, there are still positions that manager Roberto Di Matteo is looking to strengthen, with right-back and up front the areas reported to be in need of improvement.
Didier Drogba's departure at the end of last season has left Chelsea short of experienced striking options, while Jose Bosingwa's exit means there is a gap to fill at the back.
Gourlay confirmed the Blues are exploring their options as the club aim to bring in more fresh faces before the start of the new Premier League season in mid-August.
"While we ended with a very strong season, it was clear that there were some areas where we did have to strengthen, so we knew we were always going to have to do that," said Gourlay.
"If the right players become available at the right time we will sign them.
"We've done that and we are still continuing to look at one or two positions and we will see how that develops over the next couple of weeks."
