Chelsea given freedom - Luiz
The Brazilian centre-half insists the ability to criticise one another on the field has inspired them to emerge from their recent crisis. Luiz, 24, has been at the centre of much of the criticism for his gung-ho approach to games where he has shown the tendency to forage upfield and lunge into some reckless tackling. However, the £24million summer signing has showed signs of settling into his role at Stamford Bridge and has inspired the Blues to the last-16 of the Champions League where they will meet Napoli. And Andre Villas-Boas' side have been steadily improving after winning their last three games, including a 2-1 win over Premier League leaders Manchester City on Monday night. Luiz told The Sun: "We have complete freedom on the pitch to give our opinions, and to speak out - even to the extent of criticising our team-mates harshly. "We were not having such a good spell recently, but now nobody talks about that. That is the product of our attitude and confidence. We all have independence within the squad."
