Celta Vigo, Resino go separate ways
Celta Vigo and coach Abel Resino have agreed to part company the club announced on Saturday.
The announcement comes just a week after Celta preserved their Primera Division status on the final day of the season by beating Espanyol 1-0.
Resino, 53, took charge of Celta in February as the replacement for Paco Herrera, who led the Galician club to promotion from the Segunda Division the previous season but was sacked with his side four points adrift of safety in the top flight.
A Celta statement today read: "Abel Resino leaves Celta after both parties reached an agreement to go their separate ways, a decision jointly taken today which is considered best as much for the coach as for the club.
"Celta want to express their most sincere thanks to Abel Resino for the work he has done in the final stretch of the season, where the team achieved survival."
Celta announced that Resino's assistants Pepe Serer and Miguel Peiro have also left the club.
